We’re delighted to announce the five artists selected by The Museum of Alternative Jewellery as part of AMALGAM, CLUSTER’s exhibition exploring the intersection of jewellery, technology, and AI.
Established in 2022, The Museum of Alternative Jewellery is a digital gallery dedicated to obscure toy watches, kitsch oddities and mould-breaking examples of contemporary jewellery. Through its distinctive commentary, the Museum explores the history, nostalgia and cultural implications embedded within each jewel it features.
For AMALGAM, the Museum selected five artists from the exhibition to showcase on their Instagram page whose work particularly resonated with its alternative and unconventional approach to jewellery:
Valeria Benalcázar: selected for her fresh, thought-provoking and visually thrilling translation of corals and microscopic life into brightly coloured eco-resin forms.
Sandrine Diodati: selected for her unconventional combinations of metals, stones and textures, and her clever repositioning of locks and barrel clasps as focal points, allowing the wearer to add and remove elements at will.
Jaeseob Shin: selected for work that manages to shock, perturb and discomfort while displaying an extraordinary degree of technical skill and beauty — an ultimate contradiction of sensibilities.
Yuqi Fan: selected for her unique perspective on the relationship between jewel and wearer, reimagining adornment as a doll-like entity that can be attached to the body.
Ninimosidesigns | Nini Mosiashvili: selected for an artistic outlook and visual language that brings together visceral urchin-like silver forms and blood-mimicking glass crystals.
We’re thrilled to celebrate these five artists and their distinctive approaches to contemporary adornment as part of AMALGAM.
