The ceramic surface features a multi-layered metallic glaze that shifts visually between the qualities of metal and glass. The incidental formation of bubbles and other inclusions reinforces the work’s theme, “Incorporating the environment into homeware.” Furthermore, any accidental cracks have been highlighted with paint inspired by the traditional Japanese gold-joining technique.
