”The Living Trace”
Ziwei Wan (ViVi) is a jewelry artist and designer from China whose work explores the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and emerging digital technologies. Currently based in the United States, she earned her Master of Fine Arts in Jewelry at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her practice blends cultural narratives, playful aesthetics, and interactive elements, often bridging physical and virtual spaces.
Drawing inspiration from mythology, memory, and the subtle details of everyday life, Ziwei’s creations transform jewelry into vessels of storytelling. Her work invites audiences to engage emotionally and experientially, pushing the boundaries of jewelry as both wearable art and immersive digital experience.
Ziwei Wan’s “Light To My Eyes” explores the poetic relationship between light, shadow, and architectural space. Inspired by the way architects manipulate light to transform cityscapes, Ziwei translates this concept into jewelry that refracts, reflects, and projects light in subtle yet evocative ways.
This series reimagines jewelry as a wearable sculpture and a vessel for storytelling, where each piece captures a different effect of light—penetration, reflection, and shadow projection—when it meets a surface. By combining traditional metalworking techniques with contemporary design thinking, Ziwei creates adornments that invite viewers to slow down, observe, and rediscover the beauty in quiet moments and shifting perspectives.
