WOVE MOVE STUDIO
“CODE&CRAFT”
2025
Wove Move is a design studio based in Bucharest, whose practices blend technology with sculptural form. Their pieces—most often conceived as light objects or sculptures that interact with light—are the product of generating and producing parametric volumes inspired by organic shapes and patterns found in nature.
What began as experimental play soon gained appreciation, with the first sculptural collection leading to a debut participation at Romanian Design Week 2024. This collaboration marked the moment Wove Move began shaping its fingerprint and developing its practices.
The studio was founded by architect Andrei Rusu. As a graduate of UAUIM Bucharest, Andrei brought to life the conceptual and artistic vision behind Wove Move by bridging architecture and product design, shifting from the scale of buildings to the intimacy of objects. This relationship between the large and the small is rooted in his early formation as a visual artist, first cultivated during high school.
Wove Move shortly welcomed Ana Stănescu as the business and media manager. Ana’s background contributes to shaping the dialogue between the studio and the audience.
Wove Move’s mission is to create all of their light sculptures from 100% recycled PET and to reimagine plastic waste as a means of expression.
“The underlying intangible code that programs nature is mathematics. Technology can be a means of decrypting that code into tangible craft.”
Wove Move was created out of a curiosity to experiment with new software and explore how it can generate organic volumes. Over time, this practice of artistic manipulation of technology shaped its formula. We began to shine a light onto the mathematics found in our surroundings and display it through 3D-printed sculptural pieces. The creative process behind Wove Move therefore became a game of light, technology, shapes, and pattern.
A defining moment was my experience of cruising through the Danube Delta in my handmade kayak. During these two weeks of solitude on the waters, I had plenty of time to observe the quiet details surrounding me: the insects, the birds, their colors, the rhythm of their flight, and the chaotic yet precise patterns that the waves left behind on the shore. This fascination with the logic of nature continues to guide our design process.
Although our sculptural pieces are inspired by nature, they are made from an interlaced shell. Each vertex of this woven pattern, which builds a synthetic skin, is a reminder that the pieces are man-made. As a token of gratitude to our muse, we create our luminaires from 100% recycled PET, reimagining junk as a means of expression.
