Based in Biel, Switzerland, originally from Italy, Veronica Antonucci (b. 1982) founded her sustainable jewellery brand, VANTO, in 2019 and has since exhibited her designs at Dutch Design Week, Helsinki Design Week, Milan Design Week, and Mode Suisse, with a selection of her work featured in Schön!, Vogue, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar.
Veronica Antonucci creates spaces for dialogue and empathy through both her work as a social worker and her practice as a designer. Neurodivergent herself, she embodies both with the same belief, embracing differences and turning them into a source of strength.
Drawing inspiration from nature, feminist theory, psychology and art, her creative practice engages with shape, materiality and emotion through a fluid and endless conversation between the organic and the construction of identity. Balancing sculptural forms and bold colours, she invites each wearer to see her jewellery as an enhancement of who they already are – affirming that imperfection beholds beauty and the body its own agency.
Veronica Antonucci's designs are inspired by the beauty that she finds in the unfinished, the unresolved and the imperfect. Her practice conceives of jewellery as a living relationship between contrasting materials and the bodies that wear them, transforming each piece into an act of self-recognition rather than self-correction.
Radical acceptance lies at the heart of the Italian designer's work. It stands in opposition to the relentless pursuit of self-optimisation – a prison in which identity is continually conditioned to lead by perfection. In her eyes, scars tell a story. So do asymmetries.
Convinced that every mark carries its own beauty, she offers her community permission to remain beautifully unfinished, unresolved and imperfect. With the body becoming the final material in every piece, her jewellery does not simply rest upon a neutral surface; it enters into a dialogue with the flesh itself. Subliming the relationship between manufactured identities and organic bodies, in all their intimacy.
