Toko Aoki is a Japanese metal jewellery artist with a background in textile art. She studied textiles at Musashino Art University and its graduate school and originally exhibited textile works under the name Toko Sakamoto. After later studying jewellery at a jewellery school, she began creating jewellery under the name Toko Aoki. Drawing on her experience in textile art, she constructs original forms by hand using thread, then transforms them through mould-making and casting into metal jewellery, primarily in silver. Her work has been presented through solo and group exhibitions, selected exhibitions, and limited-time shops at galleries and department stores across Japan.

Toko Aoki creates jewellery by casting forms she knits, weaves and embroiders by hand in silver and gold. These processes create quiet rhythms through repetition, while the subtle variations of handwork mean that no two passages of thread are ever exactly alike. This balance between rhythm and freedom can also be found in the forms of nature. By transforming delicate, ephemeral thread into enduring metal, she preserves its subtle movement while bringing its fragility into sharper focus. Through the meeting of these contrasting qualities, she seeks to create lyrical jewellery with a quiet and intimate presence—small objects that can offer a moment of calm and become something special to turn to in everyday life.
