Taibe Palacios is a contemporary jewelry artist whose practice spans over two decades. With a background in Design and advanced studies in jewelry, her work explores the intersection of craft, art, and sustainability. In recent years, she has focused on developing a body of work that transforms locally sourced seaweed into wearable art.
Taibe's creative journey is deeply rooted in material exploration and a commitment to responsible making. Her pieces evoke a dialogue between the natural world and contemporary craft, pushing the boundaries of traditional jewelry forms.
Her work is exhibited both nationally and internationally, reflecting growing recognition of her innovative approach to sustainable jewelry.
Taibe Palacios’s practice explores contemporary art jewellery as wearable sculpture, examining the relationship between material, form, and narrative. She is interested in jewellery’s intimacy: when worn, it becomes part of the body while entering the public sphere, gaining meaning through the interaction between object, wearer, and viewer.
Sustainability is central to her work. By transforming collected seaweed and other overlooked materials into wearable art, Taibe challenges traditional notions of value in jewellery and explore how objects can carry social, emotional, and symbolic significance beyond their material preciousness.
