SUSANNE BAGAYA

Cluster Contemporary Jewellery
”The Living Trace”

Susanne has been working in secondary school for over thirty years. About twenty years ago she started making jewellery, which turned out to be the right thing for her. Soon she developed herself into a furious jewellery designer and maker. Meanwhile, her work has been for sale in many shops, galleries and museums in the Netherlands.
Her jewellery often originates by ‘discovering’ a, for her, new material. The laminator at the school where she works, has ever inspired her to process laminated parts into an ornament.

She uses many different materials such as silver, brass, plastic, porcelain and crocheted yarns. Used objects, for example, like bottle caps can be transformed into beautiful brooches.
Some of her jewellery have been successful for years, like the small hearts on a silk thread. Now a recognizable mark for her jewellery shop.

Susanne’s jewellery often centres on animal figures and pieces that carry a quiet message. She works with a wide range of materials—porcelain, brass, lurex, gemstones, pearls—yet her pieces retain a distinctly recognisable style. Usually starting from brass sheet, she saws each element entirely by hand, ensuring that no two creations are ever the same. Every piece is finished with patience, precision and a meticulous attention to detail.

Despite the diversity of her collection, her work is timeless; some designs have been part of her practice for more than twenty years and remain as sought-after as ever. Susanne’s jewellery is made for anyone with an eye for something special: wearable, expressive pieces that avoid trends yet stand out effortlessly. Her intention is simple—to surprise, inspire, spark joy and be worn with pleasure.
