Solveig Aalberg reads the world around her through an organization of colors, textures and repetitions. She explores serial expression through weaving and needlework and seeks a union between the tactility of the material and the free room of the thought. In her artwork, movement is a central theme often involving a study of repetition, mirroring and displacement. Aalberg works in a visuel language where the simple and the complex are independent while also actively using her main textile materials to create contrasts between the formal and clean. Her work is about putting together different textures and colors in such a way that they, along with the shapes and the compositions, hit a string– preferably a meditative string– in the person looking at the textile.
