“My name is Sophia Moe (she/her), b. 1997, and I'm a Danish material-based artist from Copenhagen. I hold a BA in Art History (2017-2021) and a PBA in “Crafts in Glass & Ceramic” from The Royal Danish Academy (2021-2025). My international education has given me a vast and meaningful network, both personal and professional. Over the years I have participated in several group exhibitions, e.g. at CLAY - Museum of Ceramic Art Denmark (2024), and will participate in another May 21st at Peach Corner Gallery (CPH) and in the salon of C14 PARIS 2026. I will also open my 2nd solo exhibition the 14th of May at Officinet (CPH). In 2025 I participated in the 'Project Network' residency at Guldagergaard - International Ceramic Research Center, which was truly inspiring. I have received two working grants from The Danish Arts Foundation, one in 2025 and another in 2026.”

The notion of magic as a co-creative force lies close to my heart. It is my artistic purpose to embrace our ability to animate the materials we encounter with wonder. I recall this imagination from childhood, when a branch could morph into a dragon-like creature. For a quiet child like myself, the imaginative realm offered a safe space where reality could be moulded into personal fables. A branch could become a mysterious creature, the stones around it the architecture of its nest, its company rendering a unique sense of belonging. These early experiences show how imagination allows us to remain open to experience across unknowable differences. It transforms matter, inviting mythical beings to appear not as distant fantasies but as possible companions within our environment. Today, I find this accessible in my practice with ceramic through a sensitive handling of surface and form. By sculpting and carving, I investigate mythical, poetic, odd and fragile qualities as narrative possibilities within my sculptures. I draw inspiration from fairy-tale fiction, palaeontology and animism, weaving these sources into stories of memory, magic, and sustainability. My pieces portray embodied beings that often appear within specific environments to connect through caring relationships with one another.
