Shigehisa’s work also embraces the field of children illustration having published ten children's books so far. He finds the children's realm extremely inspiring and intends to discover it more. Shigehisa first draws with glass pen and ink, and paint brush and watercolor on paper, then he captures images onto his computer to add color digitally.

After graduating from university, Shigehisa started his career as a designer at Nippon Design Center in Tokyo. Then he became freelance designer and illustrator

being engaged in advertising and editorial illustration at the same time. He taught at Sagami Women's University for 12 years.
