Rory Noble-Turner is a Northern-Irish architect (ARB/RIBA) and interior designer whose creative output spans tactile tableware, immersive interiors, and bespoke buildings.
As the founder and design director of Noble-Turner Design, Rory seeks to compose unique, immersive works that stimulate the senses and stir the soul. Drawing on the ancient geology, craft, and cultural landscapes of his native roots, Rory’s projects embody an earthy, tactile elegance — grounded in moments of intimate connection and shaped by the quiet drama of evolving natural forces.
Prior to pursuing his own practice, Rory graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture’s BSc and MArch programmes, before gaining professional experience at internationally acclaimed studios including Zaha Hadid Architects, Morphosis, Mark Foster Gage, and Ron Arad.
Beyond practice, Rory is a regular guest design critic for various universities in both the US and UK. He also serves as an AI Design Instructor with Monday.com’s Tech School Foundation.
DUNE CHESS SET
The Dune Chess Set is a sand-cast sculptural show-piece where material innovation and contemporary craft merge to create a tactile playing experience.
Inspired by the sinuous slopes and restless ripples of the Causeway Coast’s beaches, the Dune Chess Set captures windswept sand in its purest, elemental form. Differentiated by texture, rival chess pieces face off across opposing slopes before sweeping down into the battlefield below.
The Dune Chess Set is more than a decorative object — it’s a bold statement intended to be touched, felt, and experienced. Solidified from sintered ceramic sand and hand-finished to reveal its texture, each piece is refined to reflect the raw beauty of nature and the dynamic forces that shape our physical world.
