We are delighted to announce Jaeseob Shin and Kleo Glens as the two recipients of the Atelierul Magazine Award, presented by Revista Atelierul and selected from the jewellery exhibition CLUSTER AMALGAM.
Their work will be promoted across Revista Atelierul’s community and social media channels, connecting their practices with an international audience of artists, designers and cultural practitioners.
Since 2010, Revista Atelierul has been an active platform promoting creative and cultural industries in Romania and internationally. With over 4,000 published articles and more than 1,500 artists and designers supported, the platform has reached over 9 million readers and has served as a media partner and juror for more than 600 key cultural events.
The award was selected by the co-founder of Revista Atelierul Mihaela Ion, Romanian curator, cultural manager and art researcher, Vice-President of AICA (The International Association of Art Critics) and Digital Committee Chair.
On Kleon Glens, she adds:
“The idea of body-centered jewellery was a key factor in selecting Kleon Glens as the recipient of the Atelierul Magazine Award. The jewellery pieces are designed to be an integral part of the body, celebrating presence and significance beyond mere adornment. I first discovered the brand several years ago, and since then, I’ve been following their journey, and it’s truly gratifying to see their growth with each new collection, all the while staying true to the original statement that defines their jewellery pieces.”
On Jaeseob Shin, Mihaela Ion writes:
“While reviewing all the participants, I focused on their artistic statements, and the concept of the ‘intermediate zone’ proposed by Jaeseob Shin caught my attention. The midpoint between two extremes marks the breaking point of Jaeseob Shin’s aesthetic, where rings become unwearable, but with a strong presence. As an art historian with a keen interest in contemporary works, I believe that jewellery should possess a powerful stance and presence, transcending their role as wearable objects. The collection presented at the event can be viewed as a ready-made installation, featuring rings placed on chopsticks, knives, forks, and even on human body parts. This curatorial vision made me select the designer for the Atelierul Magazine Award.”
