FLORENCE BIENNALE x CLUSTER AWARD WINNER

Paloma Sanchez is a gemologist, gem hunter, jewelry artist, and gemstone investment advisor with more than 30 years of experience in the industry. Her journey began as a GIA certified gemologist and evolved into a lifelong pursuit. Guided by deep respect for nature and a passion for creating beyond convention, she has traveled the world as a gem hunter, seeking one-of-a-kind, collector-quality gemstones and mineral specimens.

In December 2008, after 15 years of working for international brands in the high-end watch and jewelry industry, she founded Paloma Sanchez, The Art of Jewelry—a space where art and gemology meet. Following the opening of her first gallery in Beijing, the brand has since established presences in Paris and Dubai.

As a woman in the gem industry, Paloma is deeply committed to ethical sourcing and sustainability, principles that guide every aspect of her work. Through educational initiatives and projects supporting women in mining regions across Africa since 2016, she strives to ensure that the brilliance of each gem reflects dignity, respect, and opportunity for the people behind it.

Known for her one-of-a-kind creations, Paloma Sanchez bridges nature and artistry, transforming rare, one-of-a-kind, hand-selected gemstones and mineral specimens of museum quality into reflections of human experience. A gemologist, artist, and explorer, she searches the world for specimens of exceptional purity and character, guided by respect for nature and the courage to create beyond convention. Her designs, rooted in ethical sourcing and conceptual craftsmanship, merge scientific precision with poetic sensibility, giving form to the invisible forces that shape both matter and emotion.

Her work has been recognized internationally, including being named among the “30 Best Jewelry Designers in the World” at Baselworld 2013, receiving First Prize in the Prestige Professional Jewellery Award at the International Opal Jewellery Design Awards (now the Australian Opal Awards) in July 2019, and earning two Silver Awards at the A' Design Award & Competition in Italy in 2023. Most recently, she was honored with Cluster Contemporary Jewellery’s The Living Trace Award at the XV Florence Biennale.
