Natalie Elliott focuses mainly on communicating ideas in funny and creative ways. She does this by utilising a straightforward and simple black and white cartoon style, and then spends time perfecting the body language and poses of the characters to communicate the idea as clearly and succinctly to the viewer.

When working with time-based projects, such as comics and animations, she emphasises the message in the project by enhancing the pacing between frames or panels. Her concepts generally centre around puns, or sometimes just drawing ordinary objects or animals in odd ways.

Most often, the vessel she uses for these puns are birds, and she has created many bird characters for her work. One of them, a vulture called Vern, is most often used as the main character in her narratives. These stories often centre around Vern in a predicament, and subsequently his hopeless and ridiculous ideas to fix the situation. Vern is silent, as Natalie wants him to focus on the comedy that can be communicated through visual means as well as be accessible to as many people as possible from different age ranges and countries.
