MISAKI NOMOTO

Cluster Contemporary Jewellery Exhibitor 2022

Leftovers | 2020 Clay made from compost, and twisted paper threads with Japanese paper

My works are born from everyday life.

The things we use in our daily lives, the news and events we see, they always give me many ideas, inspirations, and sources of creativity. Similarly, I get a lot of inspiration from various traditional Japanese crafts.

I actually visit the places of production and use the traditional techniques and materials I see there in my work. Sometimes I collaborate with craftsmen.

Currently, my focus is on going up in new value by finding appeal in things that have lost their value.

Fukugasa | 2019 Sewing the metal fittings of brooches I made onto a sedge hat made by a craftsman

I have been working on creating works by upcycling scrap materials from ordinary households and craft studios.

I believe that making it into jewelry will make people more familiar with environmental issues and encourage them to think about them.

UnNatural | 2021 Hollow out food trays into various sizes and connect them by looking at the patterns and shades

Chips | 2019 Colored them vividly with Japanese paints
