MAXIME CHAMPEAU

“CODE&CRAFT”
2025

Maxime Champeau is a product designer based in Paris. He holds a Master’s degree in Global Design, Research and Innovation. His practice is rooted in a strong focus on prototyping, tool-making, and material experimentation.

Maxime’s work unfolds along two complementary paths: on one hand, he designs functional objects where organic and algorithmic logics disrupt conventional utility. On the other, he creates kinetic sculptures that offer a freer field of exploration, questioning the relationship between nature, technology, and movement.

He playfully repurposes industrial fastenings and processes, originally intended for mass production, to fabricate unique pieces or limited micro-series. His preferred materials include recycled polymers from the food industry and aluminum, valued for their low energy shaping and potential for reuse.

By hijacking industrial machines and embracing their unexpected outcomes, Maxime turns technical processes into active collaborators in his design practice, where néo-industrial processes become tools for uniqueness

I approach technology as a form of playful craft. What began with toy constructions has become the design of my own materials — a continuity of play turned into practice.
