METAMORPHOSIS III

Marcus Wallinder (b. 1979), known as Meanwhile In Nowhere, is a minimalist graphic artist whose work combines AI-driven processes with traditional digital techniques to create visually striking and thought-provoking compositions. With a foundation in photography and graphic design, Marcus draws from influences such as minimalism, surrealism, metaphysics, geometric abstraction, and evolving cultural zeitgeists. His monochromatic works, fragmented portraits, and dreamlike distortions explore the delicate balance between order and chaos, form and abstraction.

Growing up in a family affected by addiction, Marcus experienced the early loss of both parents—a background that deeply informs his artistic journey. This environment sparked a need for creative expression, shaping a visual language that explores themes of identity, loss, and connection. His art transforms memories into visual narratives.

Through his work, Marcus invites viewers to reflect on the human experience, framing his compositions as meditations on navigating both inner and outer worlds. For him, AI is not a replacement but a creative tool that amplifies his vision, enabling him to capture the intricate and intangible aspects of existence.

METAMORPHOSIS II

Change is inevitable, but transformation is something else entirely. Metamorphosis is a visual exploration of transition—between states of being, between the familiar and the unknown, between who we were and who we are becoming.

In this project, I embrace the unpredictable, fusing digital manipulation, AI co-creation, and human intuition to craft images that exist in the liminal space between evolution and decay. The figures and landscapes in Metamorphosis are caught in motion—dissolving and reforming, resisting definition. The piece is a fragmented reflection of the self—shifting, unravelling, reassembling.

Technology is both a tool and a mirror, amplifying the tension between organic growth and artificial distortion. I invite viewers to step into these visual paradoxes and find their own meaning in the in-between.
