”The Living Trace”

Louise Grey is a Welsh jewellery designer celebrated for her innovative fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. Specialising in 3D-printed forms finished in vibrant colours and fine silver, her work reflects a bold, contemporary aesthetic while honouring the hand skills at the heart of jewellery making.
Largely self-taught, Louise began her journey into jewellery design in 2009. More recently, she earned a First-Class Honours degree in Jewellery Design from Carmarthen School of Art, where she expanded her technical and creative skills, developing a distinct style that bridges the digital and the organic. Her commitment to craftsmanship and creativity was recognised with the Association for Contemporary Jewellery (ACJ) Student Award, and she showcased her work at New Designers in London in July.
Rooted in her upbringing on a farm near Carmarthen, Louise draws deep inspiration from the natural world—particularly the intricate structures found in plants and rural landscapes. She now lives and works from her smallholding in Meidrim, where she continues to explore the connections between nature, technology, and wearable art.

Louise Grey is an innovative jewellery designer who merges traditional jewellery skills with digital techniques and man-made materials to create pieces that are geometric, organic, and sculptural.
Her process begins with wax experimentation, shaping organic forms that are then refined through digital technologies to introduce geometric elements—achieving designs that would be impossible with traditional skills alone. Adding another dimension to her work, she manipulates colour to enhance contrast and depth.
Louise's jewellery aims to provoke questions about the relationship and tension between the organic and the geometric. Through her work, she hopes to spark curiosity, intrigue, and a sense of familiarity while inviting conversation and interaction with each piece.
