MAY WE OVERCOME THIS YEAR

Kim Na-hyun (b. 2003) is a visual artist majoring in Visual Design in South Korea. Deeply interested in art since childhood, she was inspired by her grandfather’s foundation work to use art as a means of helping others. Observing her friends’ struggles during their school years, she discovered that art could serve as a medium for understanding and comfort. Through expressing her inner self in her work, she came to recognise art’s healing value.

Her work is characterised by calm tones and delicate details that gradually connect with viewers. Rather than focusing solely on visual beauty, she prioritises conveying meaningful messages, creating works that capture everyday moments and emotions through symbolic elements. Since high school, she has developed her artistic language through small exhibitions and has recently expanded into digital art, participating in NFT design exhibitions.

Currently, she is exploring new forms of expression by incorporating AI technology into traditional artwork, working to create an artistic world where emotion and technology exist in harmony.

EFFORT AND CONTRADICTION

Through digital collage and photo manipulation using Photoshop, I explore human emotions and inner narratives. I reinterpret personal feelings and universal sentiments symbolically through urban landscapes, nature, and everyday objects. Rather than focusing solely on visual aesthetics, I prioritise conveying meaningful messages.

My work exists in a space where reality meets imagination, using the interplay of light and shadow to create atmospheres that complement each theme. These elements help to deepen the unique stories embedded within each piece.

I hope my work can provide comfort and serve as a sanctuary where viewers find moments of respite. Moreover, I aspire for my art to spark deeper conversations with the audience, fostering mutual understanding. Recently, I have been experimenting with various forms of expression to communicate these values more broadly.

Ultimately, I strive to be an artist who creates connections between people through art. I hope my work can become a space where individual stories meet and resonate, encouraging understanding and dialogue between us all.
