JÜNGERKÜHN

“FORMS OF REVERENCE”
2026

Konrad Jünger and Verena Kühn are the founders of the Berlin-based design studio JÜNGERKÜHN. Their partnership began during their product design studies, before both pursued research-focused master’s degrees in Berlin and Halle. These studies marked a turning point, shaping their interest in combining digital control and robotics with the physical behavior of analog materials, hence their studio motto: Work in Process.

In 2023, they founded JÜNGERKÜHN to explore Digital Craft, approaching technology as a collaborator rather than a tool for reproduction. By developing custom systems such as the Soft Touch carving platform, they focus not only on singular objects but on designing processes that embrace material autonomy and unpredictability. JÜNGERKÜHNs work, recognized with the Bayerischer Staatspreis and exhibited internationally, examines how digital fabrication can enhance the liveliness and qualities of traditional craft. Alongside their studio practice, they have taught as guest professors at HBKsaar and KH Berlin Weißensee.

JÜNGERKÜHN is a design studio bridging the gap between industrial design and digital crafts with a focus on material mindfulness. Based in Berlin, we design products and processes that resonate with a sense of humanity and animacy. Our studio draws on the act of making and exploring how objects can be formed both industrially and by hand, and how digital technology can augment these methods. The results of our explorations include everyday use products, furniture, digital fabrication models and experimental robotic installations.

As a design studio, we always work material forward, aiming to find new tangible expressions of media. We constantly ask ourselves: How can emerging technologies be used to shape a new type of craftsmanship?
