Hmoud Al Attawi was born in Sajir, Saudi Arabia In 1986. He currently lives and works in Riyadh. Al Attawi experienced different media to produce art in new ways starting from drawing and painting, up to sculpturing and mixed media.

The artist's work nature is multidisciplinary, embodied in sculptures, installations, prints and photography restitution from public interactive works. Representing different concepts of living together from either the myths of Saudi history or reality of the contemporary world, based mainly on the different narrative works highlighting the role of women to strengthen a country's culture throughout the generations and traces the impact of her home education besides the impact of the religious background of the artist . 

Al Attawi is active as an art educator which informs and directs his artistic practice continually. Fascinated by the translation of narrative between traditional and new media, where he traces memory, be it collective, communal or individual. He continues his anthropological search into history, that of his city, country, and the integration of new realities.

Al Attawi has a wasm studio that opened in 2016 and is now based in Jax District. Hmoud has recently received a grant from the Al Diriyah Art biennale the participation to commission an artwork installation at Al Diriyah Historic. Al Attawi was also granted by Misk Art Institute.

He also completed an art residency in Avignon, South of France for a month and half.

 
 
 

Hmoud Al Attawi Artwork and philosophy thrives in questioning both the human habit and the space in its contexts and concerns, such as his latest pieces “Blind Ants” shown at Mukouth Exhibition in Riyadh and “Connection” shown at Sacred Exhibition at ESCAP3 Gallery in Cape Town, as well as large scale exhibitions/interactive public art installation “A Maze of Delusion” shown in Riyadh. Besides this, he also recently participated in Venice Biennale with 396 Gallery this past summer.
