ARTWORK FOR PURCHASE AVAILABLE SOON
Henry Bircham is a student Artist Blacksmith operating out of Hereford, UK.
Henry grew up rurally between The Welsh Valleys and Norfolk. With an initial practice based in digital art, Henry moved to three-dimensional work in 2024. He began pursuing blacksmithing when looking for a new medium to express his artwork after feeling a need for working with his hands. Henry’s grandfather -Malcolm Bircham- was a farrier/smith and introduced it to him from a young age before his passing. When looking to find a sense of purpose and meaning in his work, Henry has rediscovered this craft as both a form of new expression and old heritage.
During the few years he has spent studying smithing, Henry has already participated in competitions nationally and internationally, most notably in Stia 2025 alongside some of the worlds most respected smiths. His works have also been featured in numerous exhibitions; most prominently being the Reinterpret 2026 exhibition at Hereford Cathedral, and having a piece currently on display for the year at Yorkshire Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park.
Initially studying as a traditional and digital artist, drawing is an important to Henry’s Blacksmithing practice, helping visualise his ideas before taking it into sculpture.
Henry Bircham is a student blacksmith currently working out of Hereford, England. His work often explores themes of human connection to one another and to the natural world around us. He currently is working on the idea of communicating languages and meaning as a platform to articulate ideas important to him. This idea will be the basis for future projects, focusing more on how to bridge the gap between a forged steel language and the material itself.
Henry has participated in Blacksmithing competitions nationally and internationally, most notably in Stia 2025, North Somerset show 2025, and the Royal Welsh Show 2025. His works have also been featured in numerous exhibitions; most prominently being the Reinterpret 2026 exhibition at Hereford Cathedral and having a piece currently on display for the year at Yorkshire Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park.
After 2 years of Blacksmithing, Henry has made 3 major sculptures – Jurassic Coast Sculpture, Loss and Restoration, and ‘Our Narratives’. All can be viewed on his social media where he is actively showing updates on his next work.
