Galuh Anindita (b. 1991, Balikpapan, Indonesia) lives and works in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Anindita is a multidisciplinary artist and jewel- lery designer. She studied Visual Communication Design at Institut Seni Indonesia, where she developed a foundation in drawing and portraiture before expanding her practice into three-dimensional forms. In 2015, she founded MAHIJA , a contemporary jewellery label through which she explores adornment as both an artis- tic and cultural language. Her collections merge craftsmanship with symbolic form, drawing from ancestral heritage, spirituality and material memory. Anindita’s work reflects her ongoing interest in themes of mortality, remembrance and resilience. Across her practice, Anindita reimagines the body as a living archive and asite of transformation, where philosophy, ritual, and feminine identity converge with contemporary design.
"My practice explores intimacy, memory, and emotional endurance through jewelry, sculpture, and object-based work. Influenced by Javanese sensibilities surrounding ritual, symbolism, and the spiritual presence of objects, I create forms that exist between the anatomical and botanical; hearts, vessels, flowers, and protective structures that reflect both vulnerability and resilience. I am interested in how emotional experiences can be translated into physical form, particularly through the tension between delicate organic imagery and enduring materials such as silver.
Across jewelry, sculpture, and installation, my practice investigates the ways objects can embody intimacy, tension, and endurance. Rather than offering resolution, the works function as sites of containment—holding grief, longing, devotion, and memory in suspended form. Through slow and meticulous processes, I approach making as both meditation and preservation, allowing each object to carry emotional weight while remaining open to personal interpretation."
