DIPLORIA LIGHTING

“FORMS OF REVERENCE”
2026

Michael Jasinski is the founder and lead designer of diploria, a lighting studio exploring the relationship between light, material, and atmosphere. His work is informed by observations of natural phenomena — shifting light, organic forms, and subtle transitions found in landscapes — which are translated into objects that feel calm and grounded.

Diploria’s practice is rooted in a slow and considered approach to design, where proportion, tactility, and material presence are carefully balanced. Rather than treating light as a purely functional element, Michael approaches it as a spatial and emotional medium, capable of shaping environments and influencing how spaces are experienced.

The studio’s objects are designed to integrate quietly into interiors, revealing their character through use, shadow, and changing conditions of light. Each piece reflects an interest in durability and timelessness, aiming to create lighting that feels both contemporary and deeply connected to natural rhythms.

Through diploria, Michael develops lighting objects that support everyday life with clarity and sensitivity, allowing light to become a subtle but meaningful presence within the home.

"Diploria is a lighting studio focused on creating objects that frame light as an atmospheric and experiential element within interior spaces. The practice draws inspiration from nature — from the softness of dusk light to the calm repetition found in natural forms — translating these observations into restrained, tactile lighting objects.

Each piece is conceived with longevity and daily use in mind, designed to exist comfortably within a space rather than dominate it. Diploria’s works aim to support moments of pause and attention, shaping environments through subtle illumination rather than overt gesture.

The studio’s design language is defined by intricate, organic surface patterns inspired by brain coral and natural growth structures. These layered textures interact with light in subtle and sometimes unexpected ways, creating depth, movement, and a sense of quiet immersion. Rather than revealing itself all at once, each object invites closer observation, allowing light and shadow to shift across its surface over time.

Positioned between functional design and sculptural expression, diploria’s lighting explores how illumination can soften spaces, guide perception, and create a sense of calm continuity within everyday living environments."
