Denisa Durica is an award-winning visual artist, senior architect, computational designer, and fashion innovator whose work has been exhibited and published internationally. A baby resting against my neck became the most beautiful adornment I had ever worn.

Before my children were born, jewelry travelled across my entire body—from my neck and fingers to my ankles and toes. Then they arrived: tiny, fragrant beings dependent on my body, my presence, and my soul. Their warmth, weight, breath, and touch transformed my understanding of adornment.

I remember each touch with extraordinary intensity. Their bodies against mine left an imprint no piece of jewelry has ever replaced.

Vestigium is intangible. It depicts no product and represents no physical object. It exists as feeling and emotion carried within the body—a memory of closeness, attachment, and transformation.

Created for AMALGAM, it draws on amalgamation as the process through which separate elements become a new whole while traces of their origins remain. Memories, relationships, and identities merge without disappearing.

Motherhood did not erase the woman I had been. Her identity became intertwined with the lives of my children, gradually forming something new.

Today, my children create jewelry of their own. Vestigium remains within me, continuously reshaping my identity through time."
