A rare example of an ultra-thin walled vessel that has retained its symmetry in the kiln. Semi-liquid porcelain, applied gently to a partially inflated latex balloon using a silicone spatula; the balloon was then fully inflated, allowed to partially dry, before being deflated again, a process repeated several times. The clay mix includes a novel binding matrix which allows the balloon to be removed without the vessel collapsing once dry (thin porcelain is notoriously brittle in its dry, unfired state), while preserving many thin walled sections (although perforations are almost inevitable). Single fired, unglazed. Highly translucent, moderately perforated walls of variable thickness. Can be held with gentle confidence.
