Eratos represents a new stage in German Kabirski’s ongoing exploration of raw gemstones and their structural integration into metal. Throughout his practice, Kabirski has developed unconventional methods of setting uncut stones—systems that allow the gem to remain alive, retaining its irregular volume, natural fractures, and geological memory. In this piece, however, he advances that language into an entirely new technical and aesthetic territory.

The composition introduces a woven metallic network in black ruthenium plated sterling silver, within which clusters of raw sapphires not merely set but connected—threaded into the material like luminous nodes in a living tissue. The surface reads as both mineral and organic, a lattice where light and shadow interlace through matter.

For Kabirski, raw gems are not ornamental accents but vital participants in the act of making. They refuse perfection, asserting life through imperfection and unpredictability. In Eratos, this philosophy reaches a sculptural clarity: a work where stone and metal cease to be separate entities and become a single woven organism—alive, tense, and breathing.
