Through this work I continue to explore the ever expanding visual language created by image transference in the digital age and question what is lost and gained through this seemingly endless reproduction. Gathering images through online searches, I am drawn towards digitally shared versions of imagery spanning art history, film and popular culture. These become the starting point my process of re-photography in which I enlist a variety of digital devices including the iPhone, TV screens and cameras, to drive the image into a state of continued dislocation and reproduction, towards its abstraction from the original. The resulting artworks hold a visible tension whereby the image hovers between the digital representation and the original. I am interested in the point at which image recognition and narrative gives way to the process and what we may be left with in its place.
