Acrylic yarn on hemp fabric. As an ”Urban Nomad”, Divya is always searching for rootedness. Her search for that elusive quality that is ‘to belong’ to a community, a diaspora or a nation always saw her falling short of the qualities needed to belong to them. Not knowing the language, not following the indigenous customs and traditions, etc meant that she stood on the periphery of the community, state or country. In response to this longing and deep nostalgia to connect, her tapestries are  places and worlds founded in her imagination, reimagining decolonized dreamscapes, futuristic utopias with narratives of feminine empowerment and love for nature.
