Bottle III by Sogon Kim
Glasma Glass | Height: 20cm aprox
“Bottle” is inspired by Korea’s traditional ceramics such as the moon jar. Korea’s tradition and modern art material glass are combined to preserve and protect Korea’s presence in the world. Korea’s traditional painting “sip-jang-saeng-do”, which features ten different longevity creatures inspired the artist. She drew following the traditional style of Korean drawings and applied onto the glass.
On the inner surface, a sanded effect is made. It makes not only a white background for the drawings but it also makes the drawing hidden depending on the viewer’s angle. The drawings are in between the glass so it cannot be touched either outside not inside surface of the glass.
