Hand built stoneware sculpture, pair, single fired
A work in two parts, designed and sold as a pair, She rests her fingers... places two forms in dialogue. Facing one another they create unity — a near circle, a quiet conversation. Angled apart, they become something else entirely, each revealing the glazed interior the other holds: one turquoise, one sunset yellow, glowing against the raw white clay.
Both sculptures are made from high molochite content white stoneware clay, hand built and single fired. Where each form opens, horizontal bands of thin stretched clay are placed in wave-like intervals, leaving deliberate gaps — an invitation to look inside, to catch the colour within.
The exterior of both pieces is carved with wave forms and inlaid with slip, the surface raw and textured, the decoration emerging from the clay rather than sitting upon it.
The two are kindred but not identical — different in their waves, slightly different in their height — two distinct voices forming one work.
