Hand built stoneware vessel, unglazed

A cylinder in form yet far from static, Between Sky and Mountains carries a quiet presence — contained and purposeful, yet alive with movement. It is made from high molochite content white stoneware clay, hand built and left entirely unglazed, its raw white surface quietly commanding.

The decoration tells a story of opposites in conversation. Beneath the rim, vertical wave forms emerge small and grow outward, widening into a downward pointing triangle. On the opposing face, the composition mirrors and inverts — larger carved openings near the base diminish upward, echoing the first in reverse. The effect is of two forces moving toward each other across the vessel's surface, meeting somewhere in the middle in perfect tension.

The carved openings — shadows held within the clay — are as much a part of the form as the clay itself. Light passes through and around them, changing the piece across the day.

The base carries the same fluid quality as the body — shaped as though caught mid-flow, lifting the vessel as if it has just arrived from somewhere.
