Ciara Egan is an independent jewellery designer and goldsmith based in Dublin, Ireland. Largely self-taught, her interest in wearable objects, ornamental art, and the mark of a human hand has been informed by her longstanding fascination with ancient metalwork and craft traditions, as well as her undergraduate studies in the History of Art and Architecture.

After taking up silversmithing in early 2022 following a short introductory course, she started her practice in a small studio in Dublin’s Liberties later that year. She has since featured as ‘One to Watch’ in Dublin Independent Fashion Week’s 2024 edition, returning in 2025 to showcase work in a joint exhibition with local print artist Izzy Rose Grange.

She creates collections of ready to wear pieces and exhibition objects, as well as bespoke work on request.

Ciara Egan’s practice focuses on traditional hand fabrication techniques and processes, combining ancient craft with contemporary design.

She draws on a wide range of inspiration from her surroundings, both in the built environment and the natural world, and from the boundaries between the two.

She places great importance on inclusive and sustainable design. As every piece is individually handmade, they are available in all sizes and can be customised on request. Nothing is wasted, with precious metal dust and scrap being collected and used to build texture on other pieces. Her more recent practice explores how traditional materials and techniques can be combined with recycled and repurposed materials and new technologies. Inspired in part by her work with fashion designers and a desire to reduce waste while creating larger scale pieces, she is experimenting with incorporating textiles and other materials beyond precious metals and stones into her work.
