CHRISTINA FELTHAM (TUCANA CERAMICS)

“FORMS OF REVERENCE”
2026

Christina Feltham is a mixed-media ceramic artist with a background in Brand Design. Christina has a strong connection to the coast having lived and worked by the ocean in both Australia and Cornwall, UK. Her work is sculptural in form, exploring the relationship between both form and finish. Her contemporary, statement pieces are handbuilt and fired using the traditional technique of barrel firing.

Each slab and coil built vessel is loaded into the barrel with locally foraged seaweed, driftwood with their inherent iron nails and cuttle fish bone. The raw finish reminiscent of the mineral rich landscape. Each piece is then polished using a local beeswax and finished with her signature touch of copper detail, linking back to Cornwall’s rich and industrial mining heritage. Christina is a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and was chosen for the ‘Outstanding Innovation in Craft and Design’ Award 2025.

“Simple forms. Smokey shadows. A glint of colour. My latest collection is inspired by the connection between land and sea. Sculptural in form, a playful balance of shapes reminiscent of those formed by the erosion of the ocean. Standing tall, precariously balanced; showing strength beside fragility. Every element of my work holds a story.

From the name Tucana – inspired by the evening barrel firings, it is derived from a constellation containing one of the brightest globular clusters in the sky – to how each sketch and form is inspired and finished with copper. Through the traditional firing process, the foraged items seem to come full circle, embedding a colour palette and markings that reflects their own small piece of history within the landscape from whence they came. I feel that each unique piece captures a snapshot of the beauty of Cornwall.”
