CHRIS SILK

Cluster Exhibitor | Photography & Print Fair 2022

Hitch Hiker | 2020

Chris Silk is an award-winning street photographer who specialises in candid images taken within urban environments. All his photographs are un-posed, taken on the spur of the moment, and usually use natural light with whatever surroundings were available at the time.

Green For Go

Chris aims to tell an authentic, true-life story through an image. He is particularly interested in using photography to transform a seemingly mundane moment into something more humorous or surreal. The unparalleled opportunities within street photography to act on intuition, and stretch powers of observation to the full, continue to challenge him as a photographer - reading the environment in order to predict opportunities for an image, whilst embracing the element of chance to capture a moment free from manipulation.

In 2020, he won the Street Photographer Award at the British Photography Awards, has been featured on multiple online platforms including LensCulture and Street Photography International, and has had his work exhibited in the UK and internationally at the Treviso Photographic Festival in Italy.

Street photography is a place of photographic freedom that opened my eyes to the beauty of everyday life around us. It‘s both a therapeutic escape, and my ultimate playground for experimentation
