CARO CASTELAN

Cluster Contemporary Jewellery
”The Living Trace”

Mexican jewellery designer Carolina Castelán founded her eponymous brand as a way to tell stories through wearable art. Her practice is deeply personal: it began as a tribute to her son, whose passing became the most difficult moment of her life. In that period of profound grief, creating became a lifeline — a way to stay connected to beauty, meaning, and the possibility of moving forward. This experience shaped her philosophy of resilience, gratitude, and purposeful making.

For Carolina, jewellery is a form of dialogue. Her pieces reflect how she observes the world — its fragility, its strength, its emotional complexity — and how she connects with people who value art as a vessel for sensitivity and human experience. Themes of motherhood, memory, environmental care, and cultural identity run throughout her work, each piece encouraging reflection on the bonds that shape us and the responsibility we hold toward one another and the planet.

Caro Castelán has been featured in respected international events and exhibitions, including:

  • Milano Jewelry Week, Italy

  • MOMAD Runway, Madrid

  • Escaparate Runway, Guadalajara, Mexico

  • MUSA Museum, “Cosmos de Joyería”, Guadalajara, Mexico

  • Artes Decorativas Museum, Madrid

  • Denisova Project III, MAIT Museum, Tenerife, Spain — where she presented a jewellery design inspired by the Aztec Sun Stone, Cosmovisión, earning an Honorable Mention from the jury

Her achievements also include recognition from the Cámara de Joyería de Jalisco for her career (2023), and winning the 2022 jewellery design competition inspired by the Noas Christ (Noas Hill) with her piece NoasCross.

Through Caro Castelán, Carolina continues to craft jewellery that bridges personal narrative, cultural heritage, and contemporary design — always with a profound respect for the stories that shape us.
