ARTWORK FOR PURCHASE AVAILABLE SOON
Anli Hou is a contemporary jewellery artist exploring the relationship between material, perception, and emotion. Working across jewellery and sculptural objects, she uses light, reflection, and tactile materials to create moments of contemplation and quiet escape.
Anli holds an MA in Jewellery & Metal from the Royal College of Art, London. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including Milano Jewelry Week, Romanian Jewelry Week, and Parallax Art Fair. She received the Artistar Jewels Network Award at Milano Jewelry Week, and her award-winning cutlery design is held in the permanent collection of The Cutlers' Company, London.
Viewing jewellery as more than ornament, Anli creates immersive objects that encourage slow looking and reflection, offering moments of stillness and emotional connection through the interaction of light, material, and sensory experience.
"In an age of constant information and invisible pressure, my work explores the human need for stillness, reflection, and emotional refuge. I use jewellery and sculptural objects to create immersive sensory experiences that encourage viewers to pause and enter a state of trance—a momentary escape from the demands of everyday life.
The Trance series is inspired by my fascination with holographic surfaces and candlelight. Holographic materials continuously shift with light and movement, while the gentle glow of a candle evokes warmth, safety, and belonging. By combining metal with holographic materials, I transform these everyday elements into objects that blur the boundary between reality and perception.
Rather than functioning solely as decorative pieces, my works become emotional spaces. Through changing light, reflection, and colour, they invite quiet contemplation and offer a fleeting moment of calm, allowing viewers to reconnect with themselves through a shared sensory experience."
