Alifya Aryasena is an American-born Indonesian multi-disciplinary artist based in Paris. Currently enrolled in Parsons at the New School, Alifya's academic background lives in traditional painting and sculpture, bringing forth a union of the classical and the contemporary in her work in metal. Her style is imbued of the feminine, haunted by the intangible and the divine. Drawing from her Indonesian heritage, her work is instilled with themes of Southeast Asian mysticism and folklore through a deliberate use of materiality that honours her roots beyond the sea. Her work is therefore a vessel, influenced by her blood and her fine arts discipline, woven together through a poetic narrative.
