JO WOOD
Cluster Exhibitor | Contemporary Jewellery | December 2021
Jo Wood is an artist and contemporary jeweller based in the UK, her work explores human connection to nature and is a physical expression of her love of our planet. Recently Jo’s work has focused on the self-developed process of earth casting, literally pouring molten metal onto earth. This explores our physical and emotional connection to the earth, inspired by walking barefoot over the North Devon countryside. As the metal flows, it captures energy and movement creating textured organic forms. Each piece is hand made only by Jo, is one off and unrepeatable.
“I wanted the pieces I made to mirror the connection of walking barefoot and to act as amulets or talisman to safeguard us in this scary concrete world.”
“I make jewellery because I am drawn to its glamour and opulence and because human connection to jewellery is as deep rooted as our connection to nature.”
Jo graduated in 2021 from the University of Brighton with a BA in 3D Design and Craft (first class hons)
