Youngmin Kang, a member of Seoul-based Creative Collective 1S1T, has been gaining increased attention in the Korean design scene through his collaborations with multiple global fashion brands and celebrities. His design works involve transforming industrial plastic wastes into furnitures and art pieces, and his experimentation with the material led to the development of PLATUBO, a new type of sustainable material which consumes huge quantities of industrial PVC wastes. Through his interests in sustainability and love for street culture, Youngmin's work offers a new perspective and possibility in the field of design.

Many things go unnoticed as we go on our daily lives. But if take a slower and closer look, hidden values become noticeable. It is from this idea that beauty was found in discarded plastic. Search of beauty in something that is considered ugly lies in a small shift of thought. Wouldn't this change of perspective be an inspiration to many people in the spirit of the times? What does the times require of us, and what can we do to survive? I imagine the day people see plastic being thrown away like people see a campfire, blankly staring into the phenomenon occurring in front of them.
